Arsenal plotting summer sales to fund Partey move

Arsenal are looking to cash in on any number of current stars in order to fund a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey, reports The Mail on Sunday.

The Ghana international is a long-term target for the Gunners, who are looking to bolster their midfield in the off-season.

The midfielder has a £43m release clause and Atletico Madrid are desperately trying to tie him down to a new deal to raise that fee.

However, the Gunners are growing increasingly confident they can land Partey on the cheap this summer, but they need to raise funds through player sales first.

Arsenal will supposedly listen to offers for Alexandre Lacazette, who has been linked with a move to Atletico, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in order to bring in some cash.

Lacazette and Torreira have both struggled for form on the back of their respective arrivals from Lyon and Sampdoria.

Guendouzi, meanwhile, is believed to have had a falling out with head coach Mikel Arteta, with the 21-year-old not featuring in any of the last four Arsenal squads.

Partey played just 10 minutes of Atletico's 3-0 win over Mallorca on Friday night, but has been a regular for Diego Simeone's side, making 26 league starts this season.
