Wolfsburg alert suitors for Draxler

Wolfsburg have refused to rule out selling star man Julian Draxler at the end of the season, putting suitors on red alert.

Draxler, 23, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bundesliga side since he joined from Schalke in 2014, with Arsenal among the clubs always reportedly interested in his signature.

Juventus have also held an interest in the Germany international in recent times and both have been given hope in their pursuit of the attacking midfielder after Wolfsburg’s general manager, Klaus Allofs, has revealed he could be sold next summer.

“The story doesn’t help him, or Wolfsburg. It was catastrophic for the player,” Allofs told German TV channel Sport1, via The Daily Mirror. We may evaluate the situation differently, and may do things differently next time. Does this mean letting him leave? Potentially.”

Draxler, who was signed as Kevin de Bruyne’s replacement, has already revealed he wants to leave the Bundesliga side in the summer after just two years at the club, and with a reported £64m release clause that comes into effect in the summer, clubs may just be able to prize him away.

Wolfsburg have endured a disastrous start to the season and are only two points above the bottom three after winning just two of their opening 11 league games. As for Draxler, no player has taken more shots without scoring a single goal in the Bundesliga this season (23).
