Paris Saint-Germain will rival Real Madrid for Thibaut Courtois if the Belgian goalkeeper does not sign a new Chelsea deal this season, claims Belgian TV station RTBF, via the London Evening Standard.
Courtois’ current Chelsea contract is due to expire at the end of next season and the 25-year-old has stalled on pledging his future to the Blues despite the fact they are willing to pay him more than £200,000-a-week.
The Belgium international has made it clear he would like to return to Madrid in the future to be closer to his children and Zinedine Zidane’s side are interested in prising the goalkeeper away from Stamford Bridge this summer.
However, it has now emerged that Madrid will face competition from PSG and the Ligue 1 giants reportedly even held talks with Courtois’ father, Thierry, in London on Monday.
Nevertheless, it would come as a huge surprise if Courtois did join Unai Emery’s side given the fact his main objective is to be closer to his family, who still live in Madrid from his time on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Only Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea (15) has kept more clean sheets than Courtois (13) in the Premier League this season.
