Bayern Munich have been rocked by news Manuel Neuer has broken his foot and will now be back on the sidelines for months, claims BILD.
Neuer missed the last month of last season after breaking his foot in April and had only just returned to first-team action for Carlo Ancelotti’s side earlier this month.
However, Ancelotti will now be without his first choice goalkeeper for the remainder of the year after scan results revealed Bayern star had broken his foot again.
Neuer was due to take part in an extra training session before Tuesday’s match with Schalke but the club’s medical staff at the Sabener Strabe immediately examined him and discovered their worst fears.
Pressure is building on Ancelotti after an underwhelming start to the season and the loss of Neuer for the foreseeable future will only compound his miseries further.
In the last five Bundesliga campaigns, only Bastian Oczipka (375) has won possession in the defensive third more times than Neuer (358).
