Liverpool will bid €17m (£15.4m) for Rennes midfielder Benjamin Andre, reports Le Telegramme, via Get French Football.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to add another central midfielder to his squad and is now looking at alternative targets after missing out on RB Leipzig star Naby Keita.
Andre has spent the last three years at Rennes and has established himself as an important player for the French club.
The 27-year-old only signed a new five-year deal with Rennes at the end of June but Liverpool are ready to test their resolve with an opening offer of €17m.
Only Jean Michael Seri (2542), Thiago Motta (2529) and Marco Verratti (2166) completed more passes in Ligue 1 last season than Andre (2042).
Not only that, but in the last two Ligue 1 campaigns, only Julien Feret (416) has won possession in the midfield third more times than Andre (359).
