Wolves complete club-record purchase of Jimenez

Wolves have announced they have agreed to make Raul Jimenez’s loan deal from Benfica permanent in a club-record deal worth a reported £30m.

Jimenez has been a roaring success for Wolves since joining on an initial season-long loan deal last summer.

Wolves’ decision to sign the 27-year-old raised eyebrows at the time but Jimenez has been integral to their season.

Nuno’s side have even agreed to pay a club-record fee for the Mexico international and he will sign a four-year deal until 2023 at the end of the current campaign.

“It’s a great honour for me to now be a permanent member of the team,” he told the club’s official website. “I’m very happy for this permanent deal as I feel that being at Wolves suits me.

“I’ve enjoyed my time here, I enjoy playing in the pitch and, along with all my teammates, we try our best in all the matches to win.

“Since I’ve arrived here it’s all been so good. We’ve had some good moments, some bad moments; but the best ones have been so good and I’m very happy for that.”

Jimenez has played a direct hand in 19 league goals in his maiden English campaign, more than any other player outside the Premier League’s top six.

Furthermore, Jimenez has proven his worth in the big matches, scoring or assisting in games against Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool in all competitions.
