Tottenham have announced Nabil Bentaleb has joined German side Schalke on a season-long loan deal with a £17m clause to make the switch permanent.
Bentaleb, 21, burst onto the scene during the last part of the 2013/14 campaign but has struggled with form and fitness in the last 12 months.
The Algeria international has dropped down the pecking order at Tottenham as a result and has now joined Schalke in a bid to kickstart his career.
Bentaleb has only started two league matches since the start of last season and hasn’t featured competitively since January this year (vs Crystal Palace).
