Mario Balotelli has declared himself ready and available to return to first-team action for Nice ahead of their top of the table clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
The 26-year-old has missed Nice’s last five matches through injury but returned to full training on Tuesday to step up his fitness ahead of the weekend’s action.
Nice managed to win three of the five games without Balotelli but his return would serve as a welcomed boost as they look to maintain their three point lead over Monaco at the top of Ligue 1.
“I feel good [about Sunday], Balotelli said during an interview scheduled to be published on Nice’s new Weibo channel, via ESPN. “It depends on the coach, of course.”
“Paris Saint-Germain, Toulouse, Lyon, it’s not the name that counts for me. We have to have the same approach every weekend. I don’t think in terms of a big match or a small match. I want to win every time.”
Balotelli’s move from Liverpool to Nice raised eyebrows on behalf of the Ligue 1 outfit but it has proved a gamble worth taking thus far, with the Italian’s form integral behind their surprise start to the season.
This would only be Balotelli’s second away league game of the season and Nice manager Lucien Favre will hope he fares better on this occasion having secured a WhoScored rating of 5.79 in his only away appearance of the Ligue 1 season thus far. All six of his league goals this season have come on home soil, which no player can better in the division.
