Palace woes up front continue with Wickham set for ban

Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham is set for a retrospective three-match ban heaping further pressure on Alan Pardew’s hunt for a prolific frontman this month.

Wickham’s elbow on Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen went unpunished during their 3-1 defeat by referee Martin Atkinson, but FA have charged him for violent conduct after the incident wasn't recorded in the match officials’ post-game notes.

The Eagles have only scored one league goal since the turn of the year and have struggled for goals up front all season. As a result, Pardew has been interested in signing another striker this month, with the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Loic Remy among those linked with the club.

In fact, a Palace striker hasn’t scored a goal from open play in the league all season.
