Paris Saint-Germain drop interest in Borussia Dortmund star
Paris Saint-Germain’s new sporting director Antero Henrique has ended the club’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reports ESPN.
The Ligue 1 giants have been heavily linked with a move for the Dortmund star since the end of last season and there were reports suggesting they had agreed a stunning €85m (£74.4m) deal.
PSG were reportedly just waiting for Henrique to give his seal of approval to push a transfer over the line but the former Porto man doesn’t believe the previously agreed deal represents good value for money for the French side.
Henrique was made Patrick Kluivert’s replacement at the start of the month and he has now shifted the club’s attention to securing the long-term futures of the likes of Marco Verratti, Adrien Rabiot and Marquinhos.
As far as incomings are concerned, Henrique is still hopeful of securing a deal for Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez, while wonderkids Kylian Mbappe and Gianluigi Donnarumma are also on PSG’s radar.
In the last two seasons only five players have scored more goals in Europe’s top five leagues than Aubameyang (56).
