West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini is keen on offering Arsenal man Jack Wilshere the chance to play at the London Stadium if he leaves the Gunners, reports the Sun.
Wilshere’s contract at the Emirates expires this month and it remains to be seen whether he’ll be offered a new deal by recently appointed Arsenal manager Unai Emery.
Pellegrini, who was unveiled as David Moyes’ successor in east London last month, is supposedly monitoring the situation closely with a view to offering Wilshere the opportunity to ply his trade in the capital in the coming campaign.
The Chilean is a long-term admirer of Wilshere and looked to sign the England international during his time as Manchester City boss.
A series of ankle injuries has hindered Wilshere, however, so much so that the 26-year-old missed out on a place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.
However, Wilshere made 13 appearances for Arsenal in the Europa League last season, with it looking as though his worst issues are now behind him with Pellegrini set to renew his interest in the midfielder.
West Ham, though, would face competition from Fulham, Crystal Palace, Everton and Newcastle should Wilshere, whose return of 3.6 successful dribbles per 90 was one of the highest returns in the Europa League last season, seek a fresh start.
