Argentine leaving Inter to sweat over Real Madrid interest

Mauro Icardi is yet to sign a new deal with Inter, with the Serie A side now sweating over his future in Italy particularly with Real Madrid interested, reports the Daily Express.

The Argentine has scored more goals (17) than any other player in Italy’s top tier this term and Inter are understandably keen to tie their prized asset down to a new deal.

Real Madrid are hoping to bring in a new striker and are considering their options, with Tottenham man Harry Kane another candidate for the La Liga champions.

However, Los Blancos are now looking to return for the 24-year-old having missed out on his signature earlier in his career.

Icardi is believed to have a £97.5m release clause in his contract and Inter are worried Real Madrid could trigger that at the end of the season, with the Serie A title contenders aiming to rise that fee or remove it altogether.

With Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale expected to be sold off in the summer, Real Madrid could afford to splash the cash on the Inter captain next year.
