Crystal Palace's proposed deal for Championship defender falls through

Crystal Palace's proposed £10m deal for West Brom full-back Nathan Ferguson collapsed on deadline deal due to a failed medical, reports the London Evening Standard.

Ferguson was one of three players Palace hoped to sign on deadline day but Roy Hodgson's side ended up with no incomings.

Palace missed out on Yannick Carrasco to Atletico Madrid before West Ham hi-jacked their deal for Championship forward Jarrod Bowen.

Ferguson was another player identified that would bolster their squad but a knee issue was flagged during the youngster's medical and Palace opted against a deal.

The 19-year-old has played an integral part in West Brom's promotion push from the Championship this season.

Ferguson, who was linked to Borussia Dortmund this month, has started 21 league matches for the Baggies this season and is capable of playing at right-back and left-back.

Ferguson has one goal and one assist to his name in the league this season and averages more tackles per game (2.4) than any other West Brom player.
