Tottenham star fractures arm

Tottenham have confirmed Son Heung-min faces an extended spell on the sidelines after fracturing his arm in Sunday's 3-2 win over Aston Villa.

The timing of Son's injury could not be worse for Tottenham's aspirations in the league and in Europe.

Tottenham have moved to within a point of fourth place Chelsea ahead of their meeting on Saturday and face RB Leipzig in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday.

Son, who will undergo sugery and be miss several weeks, will miss both matches and joins star striker Harry Kane on the sidelines.

Tottenham failed to sign a new striker in January as cover for Kane and could now pay a heavy price.

Jose Mourinho has already admitted Lucas Moura does not have the required skill set to play centrally but the Tottenham boss has little choice but to used the Brazilian up front.

Son has played a direct hand in 16 goals in 21 league appearances this season (nine goals, seven assists) and has also scored five times in six Champions League appearances.

Coupled with Kane's absence, Tottenham go into Wednesday's Champions League game without two players responsible for 11 of their 18 goals in the competition this season.
