Barcelona have confirmed the arrival of Junior Firpo from LaLiga counterparts Real Betis for a fee that could rise to €30m.
The Blaugrana have been courting the left-back for some time as they strengthen at the back, with Firpo set to provide stiff competition for Jordi Alba for a spot in the starting XI.
And Barcelona have announced that the Spain U21 international has put pen to paper on a five year deal at Camp Nou.
“FC Barcelona and Real Betis have reached an agreement for the transfer of Junior Firpo for an amount of 18 million euros plus 12 million euros in variables,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“The player will sign a contract with the club for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2024, with a termination clause of 200 million euros.”
The 22-year-old made 22 starts for Real Betis last season as injuries hampered his impact, but even so; Firpo chipped in with three goals and four assists in Spain’s top tier.
He follows Frenkie de Jong, Neto and Antoine Griezmann to Camp Nou.
