Swansea midfielder happy in Wales

Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has refuted claims suggesting he has fallen out with manager Garry Monk.

Sigurdsson, 26, reportedly hit out at Monk’s inability to communicate with his players and was left frustrated his manager didn’t congratulate him on Iceland’s qualification to Euro 2016.

However, the Welsh outfit have already moved to cool rift claims and Sigurdsson insists he has no problems with Monk and is still happy at the club.

“I simply did not choose the right words to answer the question I was being asked in the interview, which created this unfortunate misunderstanding,” Sigurdsson told Daily Mail.

“I am very happy at Swansea and my relationship with the manager is very good. I have good communication with him, as do the rest of the players.”

The Iceland international started the campaign brightly but has seen his form severely dip in the last two months. In fact, of Swansea players to start at least three league matches thus far, only Ki Sung-Yeung (6.48) has gained a lower WhoScored rating than Sigurdsson (6.53).
