Paris Saint-Germain ready to swoop for Manchester United centre-back target
According to Munich-based news outlet Abendzeitung (in German) Jerome Boateng will complete a move to Paris Saint Germain this summer.
The Bayern defender had been one of a handful of defenders linked to Manchester United during the Premier League transfer window but the club were seemingly unwilling to make the move.
French champions PSG are now set to sweep in and offer the Bundesliga giants €50m for a player that endured numerous injury problems last season heading into the World Cup.
It was a tournament to forget for Boateng, who was sent off against Sweden and ultimately missed the 2014 champions’ shock defeat to South Korea, which saw the German national team crash out at the group stages.
Boateng started just 19 league games for Bayern last season, though that was an improvement on the previous two campaigns, and overall the 29-year-old has only started 46 times out of a possible 102 games in the Bundesliga since 2015/16.
Of said 46 outings over the past three seasons, the centre-back has only ended on the losing side twice, with an 82.6 per cent win rate.
