Manchester City and Bayern Munich target rejects rumours
Mikel Oyarzabal has poured cold water on a potential move this month, insisting he is happy and focused at Real Sociedad in an exclusive interview with WhoScored.com.
The winger, who has earned a place on the left in our LaLiga team of the season at midway point of the 2019/20 campaign has attracted interest from both Manchester City and, more recently, Bayern Munich.
Initial reports suggested that Pep Guardiola had identified the 22-year-old as a potential replacement for the injured Leroy Sane, who had himself been linked with a move to Bayern. However, with those rumours having quietened down, the German champions reportedly identified the Spaniard as an alternative to Sane.
Nevertheless, speaking to WhoScored.com, Oyarzabal stated, “I don’t pay attention at all to those rumours. I am focused in my work at la Real (Sociedad).”
The youngster has had a direct hand in 11 goals in LaLiga this season, earning the highest WhoScored.com rating of his career to date, and when asked whether he had designs on playing abroad the Spain international was equally dismissive.
“I have never thought about that (playing in another league). I am very young, and I hope to have a long career. I don’t know what the future has prepared for me.”
