Everton have made former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel their top target to succeed Ronald Koeman, reports The Daily Mirror.
The Merseysiders sacked Koeman on Monday and have placed U23 head coach and former defender David Unsworth in interim charge for Wednesday’s League Cup trip to Chelsea.
Unsworth is likely to have Everton’s next three matches in charge to stake his own claim for the full-time job, but the Toffees want to speak with Tuchel about the possibility of taking over at Goodison Park.
Tuchel has been out of work since being sacked as Dortmund head coach at the end of last season but is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young managers in Europe.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche and former Bayern Munich head coach Carlo Ancelotti are also understood to be on Everton’s radar.
The Toffees have reportedly even made contact with Tuchel’s representatives, but the 44-year-old is not looking to rush his decision, particularly as there is a chance he could manage Bayern next season.
Everton have only won two of their opening nine league matches this season and are currently third from bottom in the table. Furthermore, only Stoke (20) and Crystal Palace (19) have conceded more Premier League goals than Everton (18) this term.
