West Ham to make ambitious move to replace Bilic

West Ham are lining up a sensational move to make Hoffenheim head coach Julian Nagelsmann their next manager if Slaven Bilic fails to arrest the club’s decline, claims The Daily Mail.

The Hammers have given Bilic two matches to prove he is the man to steer the club away from another relegation battle but things look bleak for the 49-year-old.

Bilic’s side play Tottenham on Wednesday in the next round of the League Cup before facing relegation rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday in a game that will likely decide his fate at the London Stadium.

West Ham would like to see Bilic complete the rest of the season but are drawing together a shortlist of potential replacements as he edges closer to the sack.

The east London outfit would like to make Nagelsmann their new long-term manager but would do well to prise him away from Hoffenheim midway through the season.

Bayern Munich considered this fact when opting to coax Jupp Heynckes out of retirement to replace Carlo Ancelotti earlier this month with a view to making Nagelsmann their new head coach at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old, who is one of the most exciting young coaches on the continent, has already revealed his family are in the process of moving closer to Munich and it would seem unlikely West Ham could convince the German to turn down Bayern for the London Stadium.

Despite his tender age, Nagelsmann has been a revelation for Hoffenheim - he has won 46.2% of his matches of charge
