Mauricio Pochettino is considering his future at Tottenham, claims Yahoo Sport.
The 46-year-old has developed into one of the most exciting coaches in Europe since taking over as Tottenham head coach in May 2014.
Pochettino has put Tottenham on the map both in England and in Europe and is now being considered by Real Madrid as Zinedine Zidane’s replacement.
The La Liga giants are widely expected to replace Zidane at the end of what has been a turbulent campaign.
Madrid languish 15 points behind Barcelona in the league but are on course to win a record third straight Champions League trophy.
However, Florentino Perez could still replace Zidane even if they salvage their season with another European trophy.
Pochettino unexpectedly cast doubt over his Tottenham future in the wake of Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final elimination to Manchester United.
The former Espanyol manager is mindful of Madrid’s interest and would like to manage the biggest club in the world in the future.
Pochettino’s current Tottenham deal isn’t due to expire until 2021 and it would be a huge blow if he left this summer.
It is widely thought that Pochettino is the reason why so many of their star players are willing to stay at the club when they could easily earn more elsewhere.
Tottenham are also due to move into their new stadium next season and things could quickly unravel for the north London outfit if Pochettino departs.
Over the course of the last three Premier League campaigns, only Manchester City (234) have picked up more points than Tottenham (224).
This would literally be a disaster for Tottenham. Can you imagine them moving stadiums over the summer and Pochettino leaves!
