Liverpool target crops up on Manchester United's radar

Kai Havertz has emerged as a summer transfer target for Premier League giants Manchester United, reports the Standard.

The Germany international has been in exceptional form in 2020 having had a direct hand in eight goals in eight appearances since the turn of the year.

The 20-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in Germany and he has previously been linked with a switch to Premier League leaders Liverpool.

However, fierce rivals United are now pondering a move for the Bayer Leverkusen star as head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to add another creative star to the United ranks.

Despite the January arrival of Bruno Fernandes, United have been heavily linked with moves for Jack Grealish and James Maddison of Aston Villa and Leicester, respectively, though the latter recently dropped a huge hint that he would be prepared to stay at the King Power Stadium.

As such, United have supposedly considered an approach for Havertz, whose six goals and five assists in the Bundesliga this season has helped return a WhoScored rating of 7.28.

Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest in Havertz, but the youngster is recently quoted by Bild as saying: "I often wonder about all the things people allegedly know about me.

"I am ready to make a big step and I like challenges. That includes abroad. Leverkusen are a great club, I feel good - I have always said that.

"But of course I want to take the next step in my career at some point. That's my ambition."
