Marseille to rekindle interest in Crystal Palace midfielder
Marseille are poised for another window of big investment and will look to take Yohan Cabaye away from Crystal Palace at the end of the season, reports The Daily Mirror.
The Ligue 1 outfit, who have recently been taken over by billionaire businessman Frank McCourt, tried to bring Cabaye back to France in January only to be told to match Palace’s £16m valuation.
Cabaye was not seen as a necessity midway through the season but Marseille are still keen to sign the midfielder and instead delayed their pursuit until the summer when the Frenchman will only have 12 months left on his existing deal.
The 31-year-old has spent the last two seasons with Palace after returning to the Premier League in July 2015 in a deal worth £15m following an underwhelming spell with giants Paris Saint-Germain.
In that time, Cabaye has played a direct hand in 10 Premier League goals, while only Jason Puncheon (1918) has completed more passes of Palace players (Cabaye – 1735).
