Tottenham ready to offer Manchester United man a way out
Mauricio Pocchetino is considering a move for Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling after it was revealed that the Red Devils would listen to offers for the England international, The Sun reports.
Tottenham are thought to be looking to add to their defensive options ahead of a return to the Champions League next season and Smalling has reportedly been identified as a player that could strengthen their squad depth.
The news comes at a time when Manchester United are strongly linked with a move for Spurs' Eric Dier, meaning talk of a player plus cash offer will inevitably surface.
Smalling has been earmarked as an individual that United can now do without following the signing of Victor Lindelof, with the former Fulham man having failed to convince Jose Mourinho of his worth.
It was indeed a disappointing season for the 27-year-old, who was a favourite under Louis van Gaal but started just 13 league matches under the new management compared to 35 the campaign previous.
