Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed his interest in signing Everton defender John Stones.
The England international has been strongly linked with a move away from Goodison Park over the last 12 months, with Chelsea close to securing his services last summer.
However, City are believed to have made contact with the Toffees over a possible move for the young centre-back.
Speculation will now intensify of his future after Guardiola since announced that City are looking to bring Stones to the Etihad Stadium.
“Everyone knows we are going to try,” Guardiola said of the club’s pursuit of Stones following the pre-season meeting with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
"We will see what happens."
