Chelsea defender free to leave

Chelsea are open to offers for out of favour left-back Marcos Alonso, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Frank Lampard is eyeing January reinforcements after the club's FIFA-imposed transfer ban was lifted with incomings and outgoings expected.

Alonso wanted to leave Chelsea in the summer and has dropped down the pecking order under Lampard as a result.

Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is reportedly interested in a reunion with both Alonso and Olivier Giroud this month, though Inter are also in talks with Manchester United's Ashley Young.

Alonso has been limited to just eight Premier League appearances this season, though has played a direct hand in three goals in that time.

Lampard has even preferred to use right-back Cesar Azpilicueta in Alonso's position of late rather than the Spaniard.

Since completing a surprise move to Chelsea in the summer of 2016, Alonso has played a direct hand in more Premier League goals than any other defender (27).
