Watford have announced they have broken their club transfer record to sign Burnley striker Andre Gray on a five-year deal until June 2022.
Gray had entered the final 12 months of his Burnley contract this summer and Sean Dyche’s side were unwilling to match his £70,000-a-week wages.
The 26-year-old was linked with a move to Everton at the start of the summer but he has now completed a summer switch to Watford in a deal worth a reported £18.5m.
It means Marco Silva’s side have eclipsed the £13m they paid for Juventus midfielder Roberto Pereyra 12 months ago to make the English striker the most expensive player in the club’s history.
