Stoke forward considering Britannia future

Stoke City striker Peter Crouch has revealed he may be forced to leave the Britannia Stadium this month in search of first-team football.

Crouch, 34, has barely featured in the Premier League this season and wouldn’t appear to have a long-term future at the club with the new direction they are taking under Mark Hughes.

The former England international was on the scoresheet for the Potters in their 2-1 win over Doncaster in the FA Cup third round at the weekend but game time in the cups against lesser opposition isn’t what he wants.

“Ideally I’d like to stay at Stoke because I think we’re a top 10 side and I’d like to be a part of that,” Crouch told Stoke’s official website.

"But I’ve got to be realistic - I’ve featured hardly at all in the Premier League and that’s what I want to be doing. If needs be I’ll have to move on but I’d rather not.

“It’s been frustrating at times when you don’t feel part of the group but all you can do is work hard and get back in there - hopefully I’ve done myself a bit of justice.”

The veteran forward has only featured in 46 minutes of action in the Premier League spread across three substitute appearances this season and in that time he has still managed a measly pass success rate of just 63.2%.
