Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta has confirmed the club are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani in the summer.
Cavani, 29, has dropped down the pecking order under Laurent Blanc this season and has often found life difficult at the Ligue 1 champions having to accommodate to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Uruguay international has still weighed in with his share of goals this season and he is firmly in the sights of Juventus.
“Cavani is a great player,” Marotta told Anch’io Lo Sport, via ESPN. “We’re looking ahead because, as I have already said, we need to know that we can form a competitive team not only for Italy, but also for Europe because we want to do even better in Europe than we have done in the past.
“We’re going to be measuring ourselves up to very big clubs so our objective is to seize any opportunity.
“Today I can only say that he is a PSG player. I don’t even know if he’s on the market, but he is certainly an interesting player.”
Since making the €64m (£50.4m) from Napoli in 2013, Cavani has scored 49 league goals in 94 matches for PSG. In fact, only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (77) and Alexandre Lacazette (59) has scored more times in that time in France’s top-flight
