Chelsea remain in pole position to sign coveted midfielder
Chelsea are continuing to lead the race for Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko, despite heightened interest in the France star from across the continent, reports the Mail on Sunday.
The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for the young midfielder and it’s believed they will secure his services early in the summer as they aim to build upon what has been a successful campaign under Antonio Conte.
The Italian is not keen to rest on his laurels, however, and has identified Bakayoko as a number one summer target.
Premier League pair Manchester United and Manchester City, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and Serie A giants Juventus have also been linked with a move for Bakayoko, but it’s thought Chelsea remain in pole position to land the 22-year-old at the end of the season.
Monaco will need to replace Bakayoko, with it believed they will move for Anderlecht teenager Youri Tielemans, who is also attracting hefty interest across Europe.
Should Chelsea miss out Bakayoko, then they too would turn their attention to Tielemans, but they look set to land the Monaco man in the summer regardless of the increase in potential suitors for his signature.
