Manchester United opt against appealing Pogba’s red card

Manchester United will not appeal Paul Pogba’s red card meaning the midfielder will be suspended for this weekend’s Manchester Derby, reports The Daily Mail.

Pogba was shown a straight red card for a nasty tackle on Hector Bellerin midway through the second half of United’s 3-1 win away to Arsenal on Saturday evening.

Jose Mourinho jumped to Pogba’s defence after the match but United will not contest the decision meaning he will start a three-game ban this weekend when United host rivals City.

The Football Association will not take further action against Pogba after it appeared he was sarcastically clapping the referee’s decision as he left the pitch on Saturday.

As well as the Manchester Derby, Pogba will also miss United’s home clash against Bournemouth and an away trip to West Brom.

The absence of Pogba on Sunday is a huge blow for Mourinho’s side, as they look to claw back an eight-point deficit on league leaders City.

Pogba, 24, is the highest rated player in the Premier League this season (7.91 rating) having played a direct hand in eight goals in as many matches thus far (three goals, five assists).
