Tottenham sign Joe Hart on free transfer

Tottenham have announced the arrival of former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart on a two-year deal until the summer of 2022.

Jose Mourinho's side have snapped up Hart's signature on a free transfer following his release from Burnley after two years with the Clarets.

Tottenham needed a new goalkeeper to compete with captain Hugo Lloris and No.2 Paulo Gazzaniga after letting Michel Vorm leave this summer.

Hart has primarily been signed to help boost Tottenham's homegrown quota to enable them to name full squads in both the Premier League and Champions League.

The 33-year-old has endured a sharp decline over the last four years ever since being deemed surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola at City.

Hart had a tough loan spell with Serie A outfit Torino in 2016/17 before another difficult loan stint with West Ham the following campaign.

The former England No.1 barely got a look-in during his two-year stint at Burnley, failing to make a single Premier League appearance last season.

In fact, Hart hasn't played in the Premier League since starting Burnley's 5-1 defeat to Everton on Boxing Day of 2018.
