Manchester United rekindle interest in Tottenham ace

Manchester United could switch their attentions to signing Tottenham left back Danny Rose before the end of the transfer window, reports The Independent.

Jose Mourinho is determined to sign a new left-sided player to complete his business in the transfer market this summer but the club have struggled to lock down his main targets.

United looked to have missed out on Inter forward Ivan Perisic, while Mourinho has confirmed he will move to sign Gareth Bale if Real Madrid are open to selling the Wales international this summer.

However, Mourinho is aware that Bale is determined to stay at Madrid where he was won the Champions League three times in four years and the United boss could rekindle his interest in Rose as a result.

United have already failed to convince Tottenham to sell Eric Dier this summer and it would prove similarly difficult so prize Rose away from the club, although there were reports earlier in the summer that the England international would like a move further north closer to where he grew up in Doncaster.

Rose has been sidelined for the last seven months with a knee injury but is nearing a return to first-team action and United are monitoring his future as they seek a solution to the left hand side of their team.

Of left backs that made at least 15 appearances in the Premier League last season, Rose gained the highest WhoScored rating (7.42).
