No way back for Bale at Real Madrid

Gareth Bale’s relationship with Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has past the point of no return and a summer exit is inevitable, claims AS.

The Wales international has been heavily linked with a summer move away from Madrid ever since Zidane returned as manager in March.

It was reported prior to Zidane’s shock resignation last summer that the Frenchman wanted to sell Bale and replace him with Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.

Manchester United have unsuccessfully chased Bale’s signature in recent years but have now cooled their interest at a time when Madrid are finally ready to sell.

A return to Tottenham has been mooted but it would require Bale taking a significant pay-cut, while Bayern Munich is another potential stop for the 29-year-old.

Zidane is so keen to offload Bale at the end of the season that Madrid will sensationally consider loaning him if they fail to attract any serious offers.

Bale has only started 21 league games this season and made a further eight appearances as a substitute.

He has only scored eight goals in that time and is on course to finish the season without hitting double figures in a league campaign for the second time in the last three years.
