Guardiola angered by England talk

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola cut short his press conference on Friday after being asked whether he was interested in becoming England manager in the future.

Reports have emerged in the English press suggesting the Football Association will make a run at replacing Roy Hodgson with the former Barcelona manager should England fail at next summer’s European Championships.

The Bayern boss had reportedly been keen to take the post in 2012, but was left disgruntled when asked about it prior to their match against Mainz this weekend.

“Oh come on, I’m coach of Bayern Munich. Many thanks and auf wiedersehen,” Guardiola is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News before walking out of the press conference.

England have a 100 per cent record in their qualification group and have already qualified for next summer’s competition in France. However, Hodgson’s contract is due to expire after the tournament and he is only likely to be given a new deal if England make the later rounds in France.
