Burnley make £11.8m bid for La Liga frontman

Burnley have bid £11.8m for Deportivo La Coruna striker Florin Andone as they widen their search for Andre Gray’s replacement to Spain, reports Sky Sports.

Sean Dyche’s side are desperate to sign another striker before the end of the transfer window after selling Gray to league rivals Watford for £18.8m earlier this month.

Burnley have already had a bid in the region of £12m for Chris Wood rejected by Leeds and the Clarets are now assessing other targets before weighing up whether to return with an improved bid for the Championship striker.

Andone only joined Deportivo 12 months ago after but enjoyed a successful season for the Spanish side as they narrowly avoided relegation.

Burnley are even willing to make the 24-year-old one of the club’s most expensive players of all-time and the deal could hinge on whether Deportivo are successful in re-signing Lucas Perez from Arsenal.

Andone scored 12 league goals in his maiden campaign for Deportivo last term, while five of those came against sides that finished in the top six. He earned a move to the La Liga side after scoring 21 in Spain’s second-tier the season before.
