Crystal Palace midfielder flattered by talk of Marseille switch
Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye has revealed talk of a move to Marseille is flattering as the Eagles continue their plight towards the Championship.
Cabaye has spent the last two years with Palace after returning to the Premier League following a disappointing stint at Paris Saint-Germain and the former France international has struggled to rediscover the form he showed at Newcastle in the build up to his move to PSG.
The 31-year-old’s performances have been particularly disappointing this season but with Marseille reportedly interested in his services he has been given a possible escape route out of Palace.
“It’s flattering, because OM are one of the great French clubs,” Cabaye told L’Equipe, via talkSPORT.
“We’re [Crystal Palace] in a difficult situation. I’m trying my best to help my team as best I can. I have immense respect for the coach, but today that’s the reality with my club.”
Palace are currently two points adrift of safety in the Premier League following their embarrassing 4-0 home defeat to relegation rivals Sunderland.
Cabaye is currently on course to garner his second lowest rating in a full-league campaign in the last eight seasons (6.73) having only scored two goals in 21 appearances.
