Bayern Munich are hoping to use Mehdi Benatia as a makeweight in a deal to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata, according to La Stampa, via Football Italia.
Morata’s future at Juventus is still unclear with Madrid still able to exercise their buy-back option during a two-week period at the end of the season.
The Spain international has spent the majority of the season as an understudy to Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic but has come alive in recent weeks, with his performances against Bayern in the Champions League particularly eye-catching.
According to La Stampa, the Bundesliga giants have already made an enquiry for the 23-year-old and are hoping to use Benatia, who has been out of favour at the Allianz Arena this season, as bait to seal a potential deal.
Morata scored as many goals in his 58 minutes against Torino before the international break as he had scored in his previous 548 minutes combined (2).
