Watford have announced the surprise capture of Costel Pantillimon from Sunderland.
Pantillimon, 28, was dropped for Sunderland’s 4-1 defeat to Spurs at the weekend and has now been offloaded by Sam Allardyce just one appearance shy of making his 50th game for the Black Cats.
The Romania international has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal with Watford for an undisclosed fee, having previously spent three years at Manchester City.
Since the start of last season, no goalkeeper to have made at least 10 Premier League appearances averages more saves per game than Pantillimon (4.02).
