Man Utd target Bellingham travels for Borussia Dortmund medical

Birmingham wonderkid Jude Bellingham has snubbed interest from Manchester United to join Borussia Dortmund, reports Sky Sports.

Dortmund have agreed to make Bellingham the most expensive 17-year-old in world football in a deal worth £26m.

Bellingham, who only turned 17 at the end of last month, is now eligble to sign his first professional contract.

The England Under-17 international departed for Germany on Thursday morning to complete his medical with Dortmund before finalising a move.

United went as far as introducing Bellingham to Sir Alex Ferguson and Eric Cantona at the club's training ground in a bid to win over the Birmingham teenager.

However, Bellingham has opted to follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho, who could move to United this summer, and join Dortmund to further his development.

Dortmund have offered Bellingham more money than United and also a pathway to fulfil his immense potential.

Losing out to Bellingham means United have now been beaten to the punch for two of Europe's leading talents by Dortmund this year alone.

Dortmund edged out competition from United to land Erling Haaland in January and have now done so again to win the race for Bellingham.

The versatile midfielder has started 30 league games for Birmingham this season and made a further nine appearances from the bench.

While Birmingham would have loved to keep their academy graduate, the cash received for the teenager will prove invaluable in the current climate.

Bellingham scored his first senior goal on his second league appearance and followed that up with another in his first start.
