Newcastle and Bournemouth want former Tottenham midfielder
Newcastle and Bournemouth want to bring former Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby back to the Premier League this summer, reports The Daily Mirror.
The 26-year-old failed to make any impression during his two years at Tottenham before returning to Germany to join Hamburg on a permanent deal in 2015.
Holtby has managed to restore his reputation since returning to Germany and could be available for as little as £5m as both Newcastle and Bournemouth weigh up a move to bolster their midfield options.
The former Germany international played an instrumental part in helping Hamburg avoid relegation, as Markus Gisdol’s side finished one point above the relegation play-off place last season.
Not only did Holtby complete the most tackles and interceptions of all Hamburg players in the league last season (153), but no teammate provided more assists either (Holtby – 6).
