Burnley manager wants vacant Crystal Palace job

Burnley manager Sean Dyche is interested in succeeding Sam Allardyce as Crystal Palace boss, reports The Independent.

Allardyce stunned the Eagles when he decided to retire at the end of the current campaign and now Palace are on the search for a top manager after avoiding relegation to the Championship.

Palace, however, have been forced to go back to the drawing board in their search after missing out on first choice target Marco Silva. The former Hull manager made the surprising decision to turn down interest from Palace and Portuguese giants Porto to replace Walter Mazzarri as Watford manager.

However, Dyche has been in contact with Palace since Allardyce announced his decision to walk away but it remains to be seen whether the Eagles rank the Englishman as one of their top choices despite working wonders at Burnley.

The 45-year-old, who has a £1m release clause, has done an amazing job to consolidate Burnley’s place in the Premier League on a shoestring budget but is interested in a return down South were he previously managed Watford.

Burnley only finished one point below Palace in the Premier League this season but Dyche would have more resources available at Selhurst Park and a greater ceiling at the London club.
