Bayern Munich step up pursuit of Leroy Sane with personal contact
Bayern Munich manager Hansi Fleck has spoken personally with Manchester City winger Leroy Sane about returning to Germany this summer, it has been revealed by Bild.
Sane will only have 12 months left to run on his current City contract this summer and Pep Guardiola's side will be forced to cash in if they cannot renew terms with the winger.
Bayern earmarked Sane as a top transfer target at the end of last season to replace departing veterans Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
The Bundesliga outfit were forced to put their pursuit of Sane on pause after the Germany international suffered a serious knee injury at the start of August.
Sane still hasn't featured for City this season but was closing in on a first-team return before football was suspended due to the global outbreak of coronavirus.
Bayern were made available of Sane's potential availability after a difficult 2018/19 campaign under Guardiola.
After being crowned the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2017/18, Sane dropped down the pecking order at City the following season and struggled for regular playing time.
Sane only started 21 league matches in that campaign, six fewer than he managed the campaign before when he was named the best young player in the division.
Nevertheless, Sane still managed to reach double figures for goals and assists for the second campaign running.
