Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo insists he has no problem with manager Louis van Gaal.
Rojo, 25, was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford over the summer and was reportedly offered as a makeweight in the deal to bring Anthony Martial to the club from Monaco.
However, the Argentina international is now the first choice left-back in the absence of Luke Shaw and reveals there is nothing wrong with his relationship with Van Gaal.
“It is normal, as with any other coach,” Rojo told ESPN. “I don’t ask why he includes me in a game when I play, so I don’t have any right in asking him why I don’t play when he decides that I don’t have to do it. It’s as simple as that.
“Van Gaal does the same as any coach in the world. He decides who plays according to what he sees during the week, he chooses the players that he sees in the best condition and we have to accept all the decisions that the coaches takes.
“He is a very professional coach, he wants to get out the very best from each one – that doesn’t mean that he is rough. He wants his work to have success and we have to understand what he expects from each one of us.”
Rojo has arguably been one of United’s best performers since Shaw’s horrific injury. In fact, only Anthony Martial (7.41) has garnered a higher WhoScored rating for United in the Premier League this season (7.51) and no teammate is averaging more tackles per game than the former Sporting Lisbon defender (3.6).
