Marko Arnautovic’s future at Stoke City is now under the spotlight after he rejected the club’s opening contract offer, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The 26-year-old, who has entered the final 18 months of his current deal at Stoke, has arguably been Mark Hughes’ best player this season.
Arnautovic is currently enjoying his best patch of form in England and Stoke are understandably keen to avoid letting his contract run down to ward off interest from rival clubs.
However, they have already hit a snag in negotiations after the Austria international rejected their opening offer, with his demands thought to be much higher than Xherdan Shaqiri’s contact, who is the club’s highest earner on £70,000-a-week.
Arnautovic has already scored two more league goals this season (7) than he had managed in his two previous league campaigns combined with Stoke (5).
