Manchester City flop may have played final game for the club

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed Claudio Bravo will miss their remaining four games of the season with a calf strain fuelling suggestions he has played his final game for the club.

Bravo has endured a disastrous time at City since making the £15.4m switch from Barcelona at the start of the season and was even linked with a return to Spain as early as the January transfer window.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper lost his place in the team to understudy Willy Caballero midway through the campaign after practically letting in everything that was on target, and Guardiola has now confirmed the Chile international will play no part over the remaining games of the season.

“Aguero is out. Hopefully he’ll be back for Leicester, but this game no,” BBC Sport quote Guardiola as saying ahead of their match with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

“John Stones and Bravo are out, Claudio until next season and John maybe in the next games [can return].”

Bravo was stretchered off with more than 10 minutes remaining of City’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United at the end of April after suffering a calf injury in the wake of successful coming and claiming a high ball.

With Guardiola on the market for a new goalkeeper, Bravo may have now played his final game for City. No goalkeeper has a worse save success rate in the Premier League this season than Bravo (54.1%).
