Real Madrid ready €30m bid for wonderkid

Real Madrid are preparing a €30m (£26.3m) bid for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after it was announced on Thursday that he would not be signing a new deal with the club, reports MilanNews.it, via Football Italia.

Donnarumma will only have 12 months left to run on his existing deal next month and will either be sold this summer or leave his boyhood club on a free transfer at the end of next season.

Zinedine Zidane’s side were heavily linked with a move for the 18-year-old wonderkid throughout last season but appeared to end their search for a new goalkeeper following Keylor Navas’ strong finish to the season.

However, Madrid do not want to pass up on the opportunity to secure the services of one of the most sought after teenagers in the world and have now reportedly reignited their pursuit of the Italy international.

The reigning European champions can expect competition from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, while it has also been suggested Donnarumma will see out the final year of his contract at Milan before joining Juventus on a free next summer to replace Gianluigi Buffon, who has been tipped to retire after the 2018 World Cup.

Donnarumma enjoyed a breathtaking first full campaign as a professional last season and finished as the highest rated goalkeeper in Europe’s top 5 leagues (7.05).
