Inter have announced they have signed Atalanta midfielder Roberto Gagliardini on a two-year loan deal with the obligation to make the move permanent in 2018.
Gagliardini, 22, has been of the star performers for a surprise Atalanta outfit this season in Serie A and his performances have led Inter to snap up his signature before any of their rivals can.
His performers have even led to two call ups to the Italy senior team by head coach Giampiero Ventura, although he is yet to make his debut having been capped twice at Under-21 level.
“I’m delighted to be an Inter player – this is a dream come true,” he told the club’s official website. “I can’t wait to work with Stefano Pioli, meet my teammates and of course wear this jersey at San Siro, in front of the Inter fans. I want to do my bit to help us achieve what this club deserves.”
Gagliardini had been eased into the first-team by Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini this season, managing just eight league starts with six further appearances from the bench.
A WhoScored rating of 6.94 is not entirely impressive, but when you consider his rating from starts alone, only Alejandro Gomez (7.50) has a higher rating than Gagliardini for Atalanta this term (7.47).
