Allardyce set to replace Pardew at Palace

Crystal Palace are poised to make former England manager Sam Allardyce their new manager, reports The Guardian.

The Eagles announced the sacking of Alan Pardew on Thursday in a bid to put behind what has been a dire 2016 and move forward with an eye on steering well clear of the bottom three.

Palace have reportedly agreed a deal in principle with Allardyce that will see the 62-year-old sign a contract until 2019, with a break clause inserted that can be activated after 18 months at the helm.

Allardyce has been out of work since being sacked by the Football Association in September after just 67 days in charge of England, but the former West Ham manager has been keen to get back in management as soon as possible.

Under Pardew, Palace earned fewer points per game than any side in England’s top four tiers (0.72) in 2016.
