Roma have confirmed they are in talks to sell Gervinho to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning.
The Chinese Super League is one of the fastest emerging leagues in world football and they have been linked with a number of footballers across Europe this month, including Inter’s Fredy Guarin and Chelsea’s Ramires.
Gervinho, 28, has only featured in five league games since the start of November for Roma but is still their second top goalscorer in Serie A this season (6).
“I can confirm there are negotiations on-going for Gervinho to China,” Roma’s director Mauro Baldissoni is quoted as saying by The Guardian. “When a player expresses the desire to leave, there’s no point keeping him.”
However, the former Arsenal forward is now on the verge of making the switch to China, with a reported £14m fee believed to on the table.
